Charges
The client was charged with theft of a motor vehicle.
Facts
The client was charged after his finger prints were found inside the car. The prosecution case was very strong as the owner of the car did not know the accused and the accused conceded to police that he had no other explanation for why his fingerprints would be inside the car.
Results
At court a plea of guilty was entered and, as in many Children’s Court cases, the matter was adjourned so that the child could engage with Youth Justice. At the next court case, Youth Justice filed a Progress Report with the Court, along with their sentencing recommendations.
Because the child had complied with the requirements of Youth Justice and displayed encouraging signs of rehabilitation, he was sentenced to a good behaviour bond, without conviction.
